Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will reportedly step down from Egypt’s government on Thursday evening, according to sources cited by NBC News.
Mubarak is due to issue a statement to the nation on Thursday evening, in which it is widely reported he will announce his resignation.
“There’s a strong likelihood that Mubarak may step down this evening, which would be significant in terms of where the, hopefully, orderly transition in Egypt takes place,” Panetta told a congressional hearing.
