The National Council of YMCAs of the USA is the national resource office for over 2,600 Young Men's Christian Associations (across the country. The YMCA provides more than 20 million people in 10,000 communities with exercise, social and recreational opportunities. Founded in 1844 in London, the YMCA sought to make more social and healthy activities available for young men at the time.
Neil Nicoll has served as president and CEO of the National Council of YMCAs of the USA since May 2006. He is the 13th person to lead the national and historic organization. Before becoming president and CEO of the YMCA, he served as president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Seattle, and previously at the YMCA of Greater Worcester in Massachusetts for 12 years. In addition to his work with the YMCAs of the USA, he also serves as a member of two Independent Sector Task Forces.
