The United Way of Greater Cleveland advances education, income and health by mobilizing community members to give, advocate and volunteer. The Cleveland chapter is affiliated with United Way of America, which has more than 1,200 offices across the country addressing community concerns through a focus on improving education, financial stability and health.
In April 2012, United Way of Greater Cleveland appointed Bill Kitson as president and CEO after former CEO and President Mike Benz retired. Kitson had previously served as president and CEO of United Way of Greater Toledo and president and CEO of United Way of Champaign County in Illinois. He also worked for United Way organizations in multiple other states.
