Agudath Israel of America is the umbrella organization for Haredi Jews in the United States. With its headquarters in New York City, and offices in several major cities including Washington, D.C., it forms an active and powerful political lobby. Agudath Israel runs summer camps and job placement programs, offers social services, and funds religious schools. The movement was founded in Poland in 1912, and came to the United States in the 1930s.
Rabbi Chaim David Zwiebel has been the executive vice president of Agudath Israel since 2008. Prior to that, he worked for 30 years at a law firm.
