Was Albert Einstein “the first post-Zionist”? Jason Maoz, editor of the right-wing Orthodox weekly, The Jewish Press, thinks so. In fact, Maoz goes so far as to suggest that the famed physicist could properly be labeled a “villain.”
Some very clever people decided that today, March 14 (or 3.14), should be officially known to all as Pi Day, a celebration of that fascinating and maddening number that seemingly continues on randomly without end. Today is also the birthday of Albert Einstein, who was born in 1879. Random coincidence — or not?

David Rothman, a Cutchogue, N.Y., department store owner, shares his boyhood memories of Albert Einstein with The New York Times. In the summer 1939, the famed physicist relaxed by sailing (not very capably) the Long Island Sound in a boat called the Tinef — Yiddish for “worthless” or “junk.” Apparently it was “his happiest summer ever.”
