Dems: Don’t Run GOP Ad

Here is the National Jewish Democratic Council’s statement asking newspapers not to run a Republican ad that paints Joe Lieberman’s primary defeat as a slap against Israel:

“Newspapers have a responsibility to provide their readers with information that is both factually accurate and proper in taste. Jewish newspapers will do a disservice to their readers and our community if they run this ad – not because NJDC disagrees with it, but rather because the RJC has shown zero concern that the ad is filled with lies….

“The RJC ad campaign is absolutely reprehensible. Not only is it misleading, but it’s factually incorrect. Since the 2000 election, the RJC has beat up on Joe Lieberman. Now they want to use him as their champion. Talk about chutzpadik! Even more, the ad’s identification of Cindy Sheehan as a ‘Leading Democratic Activist’ suggesting that she speaks for the Democratic Party is like Democrats saying that Mel Gibson is the new spokesman for the Republican Party simply because he’s a Christian conservative. It’s just not true.
