Democrat Jim Davis: Undocumented Immigrants in the U.S. Should ‘Get to the Back of the Line’
Florida Democratic Rep. Jim Davis – who is still trailing in his gubernatorial race against the state’s attorney general, Charlie Christ – summed up his views on immigration policy on a conference call this morning arranged by the National Jewish Democratic Coalition.
Proclaiming U.S. immigration policies “broken,’ Davis called for stronger enforcement, better border control, and a national law that gives undocument residents who are law abiding and up-to-date on taxes to apply for citizenship.
Davis added that he believes “that anyone who applies like that” should have to “get to the back of the line,” and that there should be penalties for those who do not take the steps to be here legally.
