Celebrate Our 120th Anniversary With Us, All Year Long!

Dear Reader:

Today we’re kicking off an exciting celebration – and we’re thrilled you’re part of it: The Forward turns 120 this month — it’s a milestone in Jewish years, and it’s a momentous birthday for us.

We’ve come a long way: From 1897’s scrappy Yiddish broadsheet to our award-winning, digital-first, 24/7 news organization today.

But we’re still the feisty, fearless Forward that’s helped define Jewish American life for more than a century. Our reporting keeps making national news -– whether about Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka today, Agriprocessors in the 2000s, or the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire a century ago. New digital features are expanding how we tell the Jewish story, from Scribe, our curated contributor network, to Fault Lines, our compulsively listenable podcast.

More than ever, we’re leading the American Jewish conversation with diverse and provocative opinion pages that shine a light on our world from the left, right, and center. And we’re proud to keep winning coveted journalism honors like the Rockower and Deadline Club awards.

In the coming months, you’ll see special 120th features that salute our past and illuminate our future.

We’ll share indelible moments from 120 years of great journalism, and offer a peek at what the next 120 might look like. And look for some surprises along the way.

This is a particularly meaningful anniversary for a Jewish publication — 120 signifies a full lifetime in Jewish mysticism. It’s the blessing Jews love hearing on birthdays: “You should live to 120!”

In our first 120 years, we led the way in covering the American Jewish community in print and online. With your support, we will continue to do so for the next 120 years — and beyond!

All of us at the Forward are so grateful to readers like you for helping us reach this landmark moment. And stay tuned — because the best is yet to come.

Warm regards,

Rachel Fishman Feddersen
Publisher and CEO

I hope you appreciated this article. Before you go, I’d like to ask you to please support the Forward’s award-winning journalism this Passover.

In this age of misinformation, our work is needed like never before. We report on the news that matters most to American Jews, driven by truth, not ideology.

At a time when newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall. That means for the first time in our 126-year history, Forward journalism is free to everyone, everywhere. With an ongoing war, rising antisemitism, and a flood of disinformation that may affect the upcoming election, we believe that free and open access to Jewish journalism is imperative.

Readers like you make it all possible. Right now, we’re in the middle of our Passover Pledge Drive and we still need 300 people to step up and make a gift to sustain our trustworthy, independent journalism.

Make a gift of any size and become a Forward member today. You’ll support our mission to tell the American Jewish story fully and fairly.
