Jewish Stars Mourn Cory Monteith

“Glee” star Cory Monteith was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver on Saturday morning. He was only 31. Hollywood took to Twitter to process its grief, and stars expressed their condolences to Monteith’s girlfriend, Jewish actress and co-star Lea Michele.

Gwyneth Paltrow, who guest-starred on “Glee” as substitute teacher Holly Holliday, was equally devastated. “Cory was a sweet and talented man,” she said in a statement. “My heart breaks for Lea and the entire Glee family.”

The producers of the hit show, whose future is now uncertain, expressed the following thoughts: We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”

Lea Michele has been incommunicado since the news broke, but her reps released a statement asking that “everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time.”
