Milo Yiannopoulos Takes Another Hit, Loses Election For U.K. School Job

After resigning from Breitbart News, losing a book deal and being disinvited from the Conservative Political Action Conference in the wake of comments defending pedophilia, Milo Yiannopoulos has been having a tough few weeks. He got more bad news Tuesday, when he came in a distant fourth in a race for the rector’s position at Scotland’s Glasgow University.

“It’s a tremendous result,” the victor Aamer Anwar told the BBC. “For me, it just encompasses the fact that students at Glasgow University do care. They’ve sent a message of unity against hatred and bigotry. They want their voices to be heard – they’ve fought for far too long and have been ignored.” Anwar denounced Yiannopoulos throughout the race, pointing to his record of sexist, anti-Muslim and other off-color remarks.

The rector’s position has little power, but the person who holds the role is supposed to advocate for students and receives invites to important university functions and meetings. Yiannopoulos garnered barely 500 votes of more than 8,000 cast.

Retreating from the spotlight following his comeuppance, the former Breitbart editor plans to remain in the United States, and has said that he will release a book this year and is working on a new media venture.
