Jewish Man Killed At West Bank Checkpoint Left Suicide Note
JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Jewish man shot and killed at a West Bank checkpoint after charging at a female soldier while brandishing a knife left a suicide note.
The Jewish man, 19, was shot and killed on Tuesday afternoon by Israeli security forces who felt their lives were in danger when they called on him to stop and he continued to run toward them with the knife in his hand.
The incident occurred at the Hizme checkpoint near northeast Jerusalem. The man was treated at the scene and then declared dead
A suicide note was discovered hours after his death in which he said he was in emotional distress and wanted to die.
At least two Palestinians in recent weeks committed stabbing attacks, hoping to be shot to death by Israeli security forces in an effort to commit suicide.
