What Was This Orthodox Rabbi Doing In Front Row At Comey Hearing?

With the country riveted by this morning’s Senate testimony by former FBI director James Comey, one Washington rabbi has a front row seat.

Politico writer Jake Sherman tweeted this morning that Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld of Ohev Shalom – The National Synagogue had a seat next to former superstar U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

Herzfeld has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump. He called Trump “wicked” at the AIPAC conference last year.

It’s not clear why Herzfeld is at the hearing, or how he got such good seats. Bharara’s seat was reportedly reserved by Senator Chuck Schumer.
