Fun Fact:

Eckerd has four pet-friendly dorms. Every spring, the college holds a graduation ceremony for seniors’ pets, complete with diplomas signed by the dean.

Why should Jewish students attend Eckerd? With a mile and a half of waterfront property on beautiful Tampa Bay, Eckerd College is a hidden treasure. For a Jewish student who is looking for a liberal arts education, this school deserves consideration. If you want to major in Marine Science, then this is the school for you. It is a member of the “Colleges That Change Lives” consortium, and one of the youngest schools in the country with a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. Jewish life is exceptionally vibrant for such a small school. Scubi Jew is one of the most popular student programs on campus for Jewish and non-Jewish students alike. If Hillel doesn’t “float your boat,” then come to Eckerd College… because our Hillel owns a boat. — Rabbi Ed Rosenthal, Executive Director/Campus Rabbi, Hillels of the Florida Suncoast
