The Perfect Hanukkah Dress — So You Can Forget That Ugly, Itchy Holiday Sweater

Target is great for a lot of things — like how, no matter how many things you came to get, you will inevitably spend more than $100 on random crap.
But it’s also a mecca for some great fashion finds. Occasionally there will be a collaboration with some big-shot designer, like Jason Wu or Missoni. It’s a great resource for casual basics and affordable swimwear.
And now it’s your go-to for this year’s must-have Hanukkah party outfit: a blue Hanukkah-themed print velvet dress. The print, unsurprisingly, features the kind of Hanukkah symbols that nearly every American is by now familiar with: a menorah, a dreidel and a wrapped gift, grouped together in a kind of hyper-commercial toile de Jouy, all for the low price of $24.99.

Sure, Hanukkah is really about finding the light in a world suffocating in darkness. And sure, Hanukkah has been reappropriated as the Jewish answer to holiday consumerist season. But isn’t it nice to know that getting into the spirit of the holiday doesn’t require itchy woolens or garish, unflattering patterns? Instead, this fitted, semi-stylish dress (it is velvet, after all, a key fall trend) has the schmaltzy pattern you need to literally embrace Hanukkah. No Semite would ever doubt your dedication to the holy day: You have dozens of menorahs all over your body, and their lights will, miraculously, last not just one night, or even eight, but until the dress tears and frays in 10 years or so (calculation based on infrequency of use x the inferiority of fast fashion fabric and production). Literally, a miracle.
Unfortunately for holiday-minded women of the Tribe, this dress is in the Juniors section, which means unless you’re so petite as to be mistaken for a 12-year-old child, it will barely fit you. (Word to the wise: Size up).
