Swipe Right On Your Dream Job: This Israeli-Made App Is Tinder For Job Search

It’s LinkedIn meets Tinder.

New Israeli app Workey, based in Tel Aviv, is an app that connects job-seekers with recruiters, using the same model as a dating app. When you register, a chatbot asks a series of questions about your job and professional aspirations, and asks you to upload your resume or connect the app with your LinkedIn profile. Based on that information, it then gathers relevant job opportunities for the user and allows one to swipe through them. In the meantime, recruiters can also look at your (anonymous) profile. If both a recruiter and a job seeker match, the two are introduced.

“During my own career, as a software engineer, I’d always ask myself: ‘Where do I see my career heading?’ My fellow co-founders and I realized that people hate that question and decided to build Workey,” says Reuveni. “Workey uses artificial intelligence to compare your unique career history to millions of others to suggest highly personalized open career opportunities in real-time”.

Reuveni says his app is meant for those who may not be actively searching for a job but are open to hearing of a good opportunity (which suggests volumes about the Tinder user, if true). He says about 85% of the workforce, today, are open to new jobs, but only 12% actively pursue. The app is currently being used by 500 companies (mostly tech), including WeWork, Dell EMC, Oracle and Yahoo.

The app’s iTunes profile currently has a low rating of 2.5 stars — most comments complain about the user experience being “wonky”, as one wrote.

Sounds like a good idea with plenty of room to grow.
