Jack Antonoff is Great, No Secret
No matter where we looked, we couldn’t get away from Jewish celebrity news related in some way to the big wins for “Homeland” and “Girls” at Sunday night’s Golden Globes — most of it relating in one way or another to the ubiquitous Lena Dunham. Here are some examples:
Lena Dunham told Interview that she thinks her boyfriend, guitarist Jack Antonoff of Fun., is great and doesn’t think she should keep it a secret. However, she dispelled rumors backstage at the Golden Globes that she and Antonoff are engaged. “I am not engaged. I don’t want to get married until all gay people can get married,” she explained.

As would be expected, Lena Dunham was among the celebs responding via Twitter to Jodie Foster’s moving and revelatory speech at the Golden Globes. Others who did so include Emmy Rossum, Richard Dreyfuss, Marlee Matlin, and Zach Braff.
Finally, peeking out from behind the “Girls” creator’s spotlight is her co-star, Zosia Mamet, who has recently been profiled in a number of media outlets. HuffPo has done the work of summarizing all the things we would want to know about her.
And in other news…
Over in Israel, there is continued controversy about inappropriate political video ads as the elections near. The Calacala (Economy) party ran one featuring a woman who strips down to a tiny pair of underwear. Also, a meme has sprung up based on the offensive Shas ad implying that non-Jewish Russian brides are getting bogus conversion certificates faxed to them as they stand under the huppah. And finally, there is the new video from the Green Party depicting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman and Labor Party leader Shelly Yachimovich rudely and loudly passing gas at unsuspecting citizens.
“Arab Labor,” the Israeli TV comedy by Sayed Kashua that is also popular with American Jewish audiences, swept the Israeli Academy of Film and Television awards, winning five trophies.
If you want to hang out with Dutch teens, you’d better be “Jew.” That’s because they are using the word (“Jood” in Dutch) when they mean to call someone or something cool or awesome.
We’ll soon be seeing Andy Samberg in a FOX comedy pilot about a bunch of detectives at a New York precinct.
Jonah Hillwrapped shooting on “The Wolf of Wall Street” and thanked director Martin Scorcese and co-star Leo DiCaprio via Twitter.
