Ivanka Trump Writes Female Empowerment Book — as Donald Trump Underpays Women

Ivanka Trump announced Sunday that she is publishing a career-advice book to “empower” working women, on the heels of a report that showed female campaign staff working for her father, Donald Trump, earned one third less than male staff did.
In a video announcement on her website, Trump appeared flawlessly coiffed and made-up, and jokingly referred to her book, “Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success,” as “baby number four” (she recently gave birth to her third child).
Following in the footsteps of Sheryl Sandberg’s “Lean In,” Donald Trump’s Jewish daughter seeks to help women succeed and “to change the dialogue around women and work.” But is she the right person to do so?
Born into privilege as the daughter of a multi-billionaire real estate mogul, Trump, whose career includes modeling and launching a fashion line, likely had a different career path than the average woman trying to make ends meet.
And she has stood by her father as critics have accused him of sexism in his professional and personal life.
A Boston Globe report released Saturday showed that male Donald Trump campaign staffers earned a third more than their female counterparts in April, while there was no such wage gap for Hillary Clinton’s staffers. Only nine percent of the Republican presumptive nominee’s staff were minorities, the report also revealed.
Donald Trump’s history of offensive comments includes calling Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly “a bimbo” for interrogating him on accusations of sexism.
The real estate developer also said Republican opponent Carly Fiorina would not succeed in becoming president because of her appearance. “Can you imagine that, the face of our next next president? I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on,” he said.
Trump’s book is set to be released in March 2017.
