Natalie Portman will be donning that infamous pink dress in the new Jackie Kennedy biopic (appropriately titled “Jackie”) that’s hitting the screen in December.
Portman seems to have turned in another deft performance, telling the story of John F. Kennedy’s assassination and Jackie Kennedy’s life afterward from the cultural icon’s point of view. In the trailer released this week, we see the first lady reminiscing on events as she rides in the president’s funeral motorcade. We see her in Dallas on the day her husband was shot, and later showering off the blood. We also get close-up on intimate scenes with her children and spouse.
“People like to believe in fairy tales,” Jackie whispers to the camera. “Don’t let it be forgot that for one brief, shining moment there was a Camelot. There won’t be another Camelot. Not another Camelot.”

Oscar Award-winning actress Natalie Portman will portray Jackie Kennedy in a movie about the first four days in the life of the former first lady after the assassination of her husband President John F. Kennedy.
Variety reported on the new role for Portman, who is Jewish and a native of Israel, on Wednesday.
The film goes into production at the end of 2015, according to Variety. The movie will be produced by Darren Aronofsky, who directed Portman in “Black Swan,” for which she won her Academy Award for best actress in 2010.
The announcement comes several days after Deadline Hollywood reported that Portman will star as U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in “On the Basis of Sex,” which will follow Ginsburg’s obstacles-filled career on the road to becoming the second female justice and the first Jewish female justice on the high court. That film also is expected to start filming by the end of the year.
Portman is making her directorial debut with “A Tale Of Love And Darkness,” which premieres this week at Cannes. The film is based on the memoir by Israeli author Amos Oz and is largely in Hebrew.
Fashionistas were out in force last week at the opening of the first Carolina Herrera store in Israel. The Jerusalem Post reports that they drank champagne and ate hors d’oeuvres as they shmoozed and checked out the merchandise in the spacious and tastefully appointed space on the top floor of the Ramat Aviv Mall in the tony suburb just north of Tel Aviv.
It’s not yet clear whether anyone other than the ultra-wealthy women in “The Riches,” Israel’s reality-TV knock-off of “The Real Housewives,” will shop in the flagship store packed with accessories from the CH Carolina Herrera lifestyle line, as well as pieces from the designer’s Fall/Winter 2011-12 line.
