Abby Mueller to Play Carole King in ‘Beautiful’ National Tour

Ladies and gentlemen, your new Carole King is…Abby Mueller.

Jessie Mueller’s sister of the “Natural Woman” in the national tour of “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.” (For non-Broadway fanatics, Jessie Mueller won the a Tony Award in 2014 for her portrayal of King in the same musical.)

According to Broadway World, the tour will launch in Providence this September before making its way across the country.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Abby into the Beautiful family,” producer Paul Blake said, in a statement. “The moment she walked into the audition, we knew we found the perfect Carole to head our amazing cast. Abby’s been wowing Chicago and Broadway audiences for years, and we can’t wait for people across the country to get to see what she can do when she puts her own stamp on this iconic role.”

Mueller also appeared in Harvey Fierstein’s “Kinky Boots” on Broadway.

“It seemed so crazy at first when I got the audition,” she told the Chicago Tribune. “I thought, I don’t want to touch that with a 10-foot poll. But my dad encouraged me to look at it objectively as a great role. I just went in and did my thing, and so here I am.”
