Not everyone is a fan of Jerry Seinfeld, but no one sticks it to the comedian quite like insult-happy celebrity reporter Jiminy Glick.
“Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” is back, so grab your caffeinated drink of choice and, as the tagline promises, settle in for a “concentrated cup of comedy.”
April 29 is Jerome “Jerry” Seinfeld’s 62nd birthday and this Brooklyn-born comedian has become a larger-than-life figure in the lives of all Jews. He’s gone from our favorite 90’s TV stand up comedian on nine seasons of “Seinfeld” to a chauffeur of sorts and coffee connoisseur on “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”
Not that it should come as any surprise, but Vulture’s recent list of “The 100 Jokes That Shaped Modern Comedy” merely affirms the widespread assumption that much if not most of what passes for contemporary humor was and remains directly or indirectly forged out of the tragicomedy of Jewish culture. With roots going back to the Old World badkhns through Yiddish vaudeville and Catskills tummlers, today’s comedy is Jewish through and through.
They didn’t leave the White House grounds and coffee was drunk in a staff dining room, but comedian Jerry Seinfeld took U.S. President Barack Obama out for short spin in the latest episode of his popular web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”
