Melodious Medley

Debbie Friedman, Craig Taubman and Cantor Jeff Klepper of Kol B’Seder join forces this weekend in a concert presented by the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education and sponsored by the Forward.

Comedian Joel Chasnoff, who serves as master of ceremonies, joins the three legendary musicians. The performance is being held at Congregation Rodeph Shalom, on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. A panel discussion titled “The Next Big Ideas in Jewish Life,” presented by CAJE and sponsored by The Jewish Week, takes place earlier in the day. Speakers include John Ruskay, executive vice president and CEO of the UJA-Federation of New York; Rabbi Elliot Dorff, professor of philosophy and rector at Los Angeles’s University of Judaism, and Forward contributor Bethamie Horowitz, research director of the Mandel Foundation.

Both events are part of CAJE’s A Day of Study and Celebration of Jewish Education. The program honors CAJE’s executive director, Eliot Spack, who is retiring after 26 years of service.

Congregation Rodeph Shalom, 7 W. 83rd St.; Dec. 3; panel discussion: 1:30 p.m.; $18; concert: 8 p.m.; $25. (212-268-4210)

I hope you appreciated this article. Before you go, I’d like to ask you to please support the Forward’s award-winning journalism this Passover.

In this age of misinformation, our work is needed like never before. We report on the news that matters most to American Jews, driven by truth, not ideology.

At a time when newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall. That means for the first time in our 126-year history, Forward journalism is free to everyone, everywhere. With an ongoing war, rising antisemitism, and a flood of disinformation that may affect the upcoming election, we believe that free and open access to Jewish journalism is imperative.

Readers like you make it all possible. Right now, we’re in the middle of our Passover Pledge Drive and we still need 300 people to step up and make a gift to sustain our trustworthy, independent journalism.

Make a gift of any size and become a Forward member today. You’ll support our mission to tell the American Jewish story fully and fairly.
