Democratic Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama – who was uncontested in Tuesday’s general election – says he is considering a challenge to Republican Senator Jeff Sessions in 2008.
Davis, Forward readers will recall, beat then-Rep. Earl Hilliard in 2002’s Democratic primary the help of pro-Israel PAC money. (That was the same year pro-Israel activists helped Denise Majette topple Cynthia McKinney for the first time, too.)
So a 2008 Davis run for Senate would be interesting, and potentially pit two darlings of the pro-Israel crowd against each other. According to opensecrets.org, pro-Israel PACs donated nearly $75,000 to Sessions in this election cycle.
