Tell The Forverts About Your Favorite Heirloom

Those of us who love Yiddish are often naturally drawn to objects of a previous era. No surprise, then, that many of us have boxes of old stuff stashed away in the attic or closet, related either to our own past or to that of a relative or someone else we were close to.
The Forverts has begun preparing a special issue dedicated to the cherished family heirlooms of our readers. If you have an heirloom that has exceptional meaning for you, tell us about it! The object could be a postcard, an old photo, a book with a handwritten dedication, jewelry, a ritual object or anything else that is precious to you.
Email us a paragraph or two telling your story of the heirloom (either in Yiddish, or in English and we’ll translate), accompanied by a high-resolution photo. Write “Heirlooms” in the subject line and send it to this address: schaechter@forward.com.
