March 16-17: Memorializing The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
Join the Remember the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire Coalition in memorializing the 1911 industrial tragedy.
On March 16 and 17, at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, the public is invited to contribute to an art installation in memory of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. Participants are asked to bring pieces of fabric to create a long ribbon, which will be draped outside the brown Asch Building, the site of the devastating incident that killed more than 100 young immigrants.
During the event, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, participants are encouraged to share why the story of the Triangle Fire, and remembering it, is meaningful to them.
