The Forward’s Youth Writing Contest Guidelines

The Forward’s youth writing contest seeks essays, prose and poetry of 1,000 words or less on the topic “What It Means To Be Free.”
The contest is open to all middle and high school students attending public, private, parochial or home schools.
Entries should be sent to essays@forward.com. They must be received by May 1, 2020, 11:59 PM and must be submitted in either a Word doc or PDF. All completed entries, accompanied by the entrant’s name, age, photo, contact information and school, will be eligible to be published on Forward.com and will compete for a cash prize of $180 in three age categories. The Forward will have the right to edit and publish any work entered into the contest.
Family members of The Forward employees or Forward Association members are not eligible to participate.
