God Is God, Even in the Bundesliga

Israeli soccer player Almog Cohen showed off his undershirt with the Hebrew inscription “God is The Lord” after scoring a goal on Sunday for FC Ingolstadt. It proved to be the the winning score in the team’s away game against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, Germany’s top-flight league.

The Beersheva-born Israeli international revealed the shirt on the field and then again on his Instagram account after the game.

Cohen has spoken to German Vice.com about how strange it is to be a Jewish soccer player in Germany. However, after six years playing professionally in Germany this was only his third goal, and maybe finally scoring again was, in itself, proof enough of the existence of a unitary provident Deity for him to celebrate It!
