Israel Warns: Don’t Swim With Sharks!
Israel’s Nature and Parks Authority is warning citizens to stay away from the shoreline near a power plant in Hadera, where around 150 sharks have gathered and attracted a bevy of thrill-seekers.
“Encounters with sharks are uncontrollable and can endanger both the divers and the sharks,” the agency told the Algemeiner. “This means it is forbidden to harm, disturb, feed or do anything else to them without risking criminal prosecution.”
According to the department, individuals had been diving into the area, hoping to photograph the sharks up-close, presenting the potential for a “Jaws”-like debacle. It is common for sharks to turn up in Israel around this time of year, and they are drawn to the waters around the power station, which are especially warm due to the energy it generates.
