Richard Blumenthal Promises A Law To Knock Down Trump’s ‘Muslim Ban’

Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal promised on Sunday to introduce a bill reversing President Trump’s Muslim ban, bringing a crowd of hundreds to their feet at a town hall in the state’s town of Bridgeport.
According to Politico, the second-term senator was short on details, saying that he was “going to be working with my colleagues” to bring legislation to the chamber that was “similar in purpose” to bills that Democrats proposed after the president’s first attempt in January at a “Muslim ban.”
The White House issued a new set of executive orders banning immigrants from six Middle Eastern and African countries last week, after the courts froze the previous attempt, which had included some U.S. permanent residents and applied to seven majority-Muslim countries (Iraq was dropped in the latest iteration).
Blumenthal has been an antagonist of the new administration, especially following a meeting in which he got Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch to criticize the president for his attacks on federal judges. President Trump responded by mocking the senator’s military record.
