Meet Avi Berkowitz, Jared Kushner’s Protégé Who Went From Harvard To The White House

Less than a year ago, Avi Berkowitz was completing his degree at Harvard Law School. Today, the 28-year-old is an assistant to Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser.

The rapid rise of the young lawyer, raised in a Jewish orthodox family in New York suburbs, is largely due to his close ties with Kushner, according to a profile in Business Insider.

The two men met years ago during a pick-up basketball game at a Passover celebration in Phoenix, Arizona.

Originally from Lawrence, Long Island, Berkowitz has strong connections to Israel, where he spent two years after high school, studying at an Orthodox yeshiva in Jerusalem. Upon his return, he started his undergraduate studies at Ner Israel Rabbinical College in Baltimore before transferring to Queens College.

After graduating, Berkowitz joined the Trump campaign, creating and producing Trump Tower Live, a talk show that streamed live on Facebook before and after the presidential debates.

While Berkowitz’s official position in the White House is limited to low-level tasks “like getting coffee or coordinating meetings”, he is believed to have played a more substantial role in recent months.
