Joaquin Phoenix And Rooney Mara Are Dating — And It’s Fine
As far as the endless jigsaw puzzle of beautiful Hollywood actors and the ways they can fit together goes, this one is fine.
Joaquin Phoenix, accepting the award for Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival for his work in “You Were Never Really Here” debuted as a couple this week with Rooney Mara, best known for “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” movies and for looking beautifully ghostly.
Both actors are thin, conventionally attractive white people who probably consider themselves a little “weird” or “different” (i.e. both have read at least one book cover to cover but could still land international modeling campaigns). They have surprisingly similar-looking eyebrows.
Phoenix acknowledged his relationship at a press conference after his Best Actor win, saying, “Before I came here, I told my girlfriend it was going to be a really good experience because I was going to get crushed and that would be humbling. I thought it would be great to know what it’s like to be unanimously disliked.”
According to Elle, the two stars have been rumored to be dating since they filmed the upcoming “Mary Magdalene”, in which Mara will play the lead and Phoenix will portray Jesus.
