Her ‘Weekly List,’ Doggedly Tracking Trump, Is A Big Hit

Amy Siskind, a longtime advocate for women and the LGBT community, was left stunned by President Trump’s victory last November. And each day after Trump took office, Siskind felt as if she was seeing more and more that she just couldn’t ignore.
So she decided to keep a list.
Now in its 32nd week, Siskind’s Weekly List, (hosted on Medium), is a widely-read feature that documents what Siskind sees as the Trump administration’s maneuvers that signal a creeping authoritarianism. The beginning of each post reiterates the list’s raison d’être: “Experts in authoritarianism advise to keep a list of things subtly changing around you, so you’ll remember.”
The observations range from the more quotidian (“Trump called new Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to congratulate him on his new role.”) to what she sees as sinister (“Russia renewed six unused Trump trademarks in 2016. Four of the six approvals were officially registered on November 8, Election Day”).
Siskind, who worked on Wall Street for 20 years, says that she’ll keep up the list “until he’s out of power.”
“I don’t have a grand plan,” she told The Washington Post. “I just want to be able to trace our way back.”
