Neo-Nazi Daily Stormer Site Dumped Again, By Cybersecurity Site

The Daily Stormer has lost its cybersecurity protection, after the firm CloudFlare decided to terminate its relationship with the neo-Nazi site run by Andrew Anglin.

“My rationale for making this decision was simple: the people behind the Daily Stormer are assholes and I’d had enough,” wrote company chief executive Matthew Prince in an e-mail to his employees after the decision.

CloudFlare came under fire for continuing to provide its anti-hacking support to the site after other Internet firms booted the white supremacist Stormer, which promoted Charlottesville’s “Unite the Right” rally and attacked victim Heather Heyer.

But CloudFlare has a content-neutral policy, meaning that it does not vet the content or views of its clients – a policy that Prince said would not be changing.

The chief exec added that he was disturbed that corporations have the power to silence viewpoints through a denial of service. “Literally, I woke up in a bad mood and decided someone shouldn’t be allowed on the Internet. No one should have that power,” wrote Prince.

The Daily Stormer has been the target of multiple hacking attacks, with the group Anonymous recently having taken over the site for a brief spell.
