Anthony Weiner Admits: ‘I Crushed Huma’s Aspirations’

Anthony Weiner acknowledged the tremendous damage he inflicted on estranged wife Huma Abedin, writing in a letter to a federal judge that he “crushed the aspirations” of his wife and embarrassed himself and his family.
“I am so deeply sorry for the harm I have done to her, and I live with the sorrow that I will never be able to fix that,” wrote Weiner to Judge Denise L. Cote, who will sentence the ex-congressman later this month, after he pled guilty to exchanging lewd messages with a North Carolina teenager.
Weiner, felled by a series of sex scandals, might have cost Abedin’s boss Hillary Clinton the presidential election. FBI Director James Comey reopened his investigation into Clinton’s private e-mail server after his agency discovered new Clinton e-mails on a computer that Abedin and Weiner shared. The FBI had been examining the machine in connection with the Weiner sexting allegations.
Abedin filed for divorce from Weiner in May, and the couple have a toddler son – who appeared in some of Weiner’s sexting photos. “The one perfect thing in my life — my son — will forever have to answer questions about the public and private failings of his father,” he wrote. “My regret keeps me awake at night and fills me with fear from the moment I awaken.”
