BDS Movement Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize

A Norwegian politician has nominated the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement that targets Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza for a Nobel Peace prize, the Middle East Monitor reported.
Bjørnar Moxness, a member of Norway’s Parliament, made the formal nomination, with support from a coalition of left-wing Norwegian political parties.
In a statement, Moxness said giving prize to the BDS movement “would be a powerful signal, emphasising the international community’s commitment to support a just peace for the Palestinian people and by that – for the Israeli people and all people in the Middle East – and the world at large.”
Moxness stressed that the nomination is “first and foremost pro-Palestinian, not anti-Israeli.”
The Nobel committee will not publish a shortlist of Peace Prize contenders until the early fall. Moxness is hoping for a global campaign to help get the BDS movement on the list.
