Parkland Parents Bracing For First Passover Without Their Children

This Passover will be particularly emotional for the Parkland families who lost their children to last month’s shooting.
“[Passover is] about remembering the past so we can learn for the future,” Ilan Alhadeff, whose 14-year-old daughter Alyssa was killed, told the New York Post.
“We’re going to bring everyone together and celebrate her life,” added Alyssa’s mother Lori. The Alhadeff family said that they are planning a Seder potluck in Alyssa’s honor.
Ilan and Lori started the nonprofit Make Schools Safe in the wake of Alyssa’s death. The couple found inspiration from activism’s role in the Passover story. “People fought in the past for rights—we’re fighting for everyone’s rights,” Ilan said.
Passover begins at sundown on Friday.
