Rod Rosenstein Wins Breathing Space By Reminding Trump He’s Not Yet Mueller ‘Target’

Rod Rosenstein reportedly saved his job by reminding President Trump last week that he’s not a “target” of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe — for now anyway.

The assistant attorney general may have bought himself some breathing room by calming down the mercurial man in the White House, Bloomberg reported.

Trump had been raging about Mueller and Rosenstein all week after lawmen stunned him by launching raids on the home and office of Michael Cohen, his personal lawyer.

The surprise visit of Rosenstein to the White House sparked speculation that Trump was about to fire him.

But according to Bloomberg, the meeting actually went surprisingly well and Rosenstein talked Trump down, apparently convincing him that interfering in the probe might actually extend the probe.

After the meeting, Trump told aides that he no longer saw any need to immediately act against either man.
