Michael Cohen: I’m Friend And Client Of Taxi King — But Not Partner

Michael Cohen distanced himself from former business partner Gene Friedman following the latter’s cooperation with government prosecutors, Talking Points Memo reported.
“Gene Friedman and I are not partners and have never been partners in this business or any other,” Cohen tweeted on Wednesday.
Friedman, dubbed the “Taxi King”, has reportedly for years managed Cohen’s taxi companies in New York and Chicago. He is cooperating with state and federal investigators in order to stay away from the prospect of years in jail for various tax fraud charges, the New York Times broke on Tuesday.
“[Cohen is a] dear dear personal friend and a passive client!” Friedman told the Times.
Talking Points Memo reported last year that Cohen and Friedman were such close friends that Cohen helped named Friedman’s oldest son, Dylan.
Cohen continued to deny a partnership in his tweet, writing that he is “one of thousands of medallion owners who entrust management companies to operate.” The attorney concluded with the hashtag “#MediaWrongAgain.”
