Republican Rep. Steve King Retweeted A British Neo-Nazi

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has continued his affinity for espousing alt-right ideology, this time retweeting a prominent British white supremacist, HuffPost reported Tuesday.
Mark Collett, a self-described “Nazi sympathizer,” originally tweeted out a Breitbart article about opposition to immigration in Italy. King chimed in, writing, “Europe is waking up…Will America…in time?”

According to HuffPost, Collett appeared in a British TV documentary in 2002 titled “Young, Nazi and Proud,” which covered his time as the chairman of the far-right British National Party. In that documentary, Collett said that Jews have been thrown out of every country for a reason.
“Let’s face it, when it happens that many times it’s not just persecution: there’s no smoke without fire,” Collett said.
He has also praised former KKK leader David Duke, appearing on the podcast “This Week On The Alt-Right” with him.
This is not the first time that King has retweeted far-right European figures on immigration. In 2017, he shared an article by Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders.
“Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny. We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies,” King tweeted.
Those comments earned praise from Duke and fellow “alt-right” leader Richard Spencer. Duke wrote: “GOD BLESS STEVE KING!!!”
King also endorsed the far-right French politician Marine Le Pen in that country’s presidential election last year. “Our shared civilization must be saved,” he wrote.
In December 2017, King tweeted a photo of beer as a toast to the deportation of a DACA DREAMer.
“First non-valedictorian DREAMer deported,” King wrote under the photo of the drink. “Border Patrol, this one’s for you.”
