Eating, Drinking + Thinking Together, and You’re Invited

We’ll all be there. What about you?

Sandwiched between two deliciously food-focused holidays, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, the Forward is throwing a food-centric celebration of its own.

On Thursday, December 3, at a cool downtown venue called , we’re hosting an evening of food, drink, comedy and conversation that’s aptly being called Eat, Drink + Think.

With comedian Judy Gold as MC and guests including Mile End Deli’s Noah Bernamoff and Gefilteria’s Liz Alpern offering up eats and personal insights, we’ll be talking about what feeds Jewish culture — the role food plays in connecting us with our histories, our traditions and each other, and how vital it is today.

We’re at a moment when Jewish food is undergoing a kind of renaissance. People like Bernamoff and Alpern — hip, young New Yorkers — are taking classic foods and making them modern, which is something I see happening all over the country. We’ll explore what’s behind these developments, while engaging participants to join in with funny food-related stories of their own.

And of course it wouldn’t be a Jewish celebration without lots of great food and drink. (Bernamoff’s bringing some of his famous smoked meats, Alpern is bringing one of her amazing updates on gefilte fish and Dahlia Abraham-Klein will be making challah on site.)

So after the turkey’s been digested but before the latke-fest begins, here’s an opportunity to squeeze in one more party — where other people do all the cooking, and stimulating conversation is guaranteed.

Tickets are $35 in advance; $40 at the door.
