A Hanukkah Gift to Help the Hungry
The most meaningful gift may well be the one you don’t wrap up in a box — but it’s one that will be appreciated beyond measure. Make a donation in someone’s name to one of the Jewish charities that help fight hunger.
Consider one of the following organizations:
Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger supports anti-hunger advocacy groups and policy makers in Israel and the U.S.
- Donate to Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger
Leket Israel is a food-rescue organization that directs surplus nutritious food collected from farms, hotels, caterers and military bases to the hungry in Israel.

Masbia Soup Kitchen Network offers hot kosher meals to New York’s needy in dignified, restaurant-like setting. The charity has just introduced a Hanukkah-focused way to inspire donations, through the new Masbia Store, an online “shop” offering greeting cards, autographed cookbooks by celebrity chefs, freshly harvested and milled olive oil and more. The money from these purchases will go directly to feeding the needy.

I hope you appreciated this article. Before you go, I’d like to ask you to please support the Forward’s award-winning, nonprofit journalism during this critical time.
We’ve set a goal to raise $260,000 by December 31. That’s an ambitious goal, but one that will give us the resources we need to invest in the high quality news, opinion, analysis and cultural coverage that isn’t available anywhere else.
If you feel inspired to make an impact, now is the time to give something back. Join us as a member at your most generous level.
