Jewish Food Pros Win Prestigious IACP Awards

The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) awards are among the most distinguished in the food world. This year, at least five Jewish foodies were recipients. These honorees included cookbook authors, a beverage columnist and a food photographer.

Forward contributor Molly Yeh, of the blog My Name is Yeh, won the Judge’s Choice Award for her book “Molly on The Range: Recipes and Stories From an Unlikely Life on a Farm”

In the Special Cookbook Awards category, which honors books that have changed the way people think about food, winners included the eminent Joan Nathan for “Jewish Cooking In America,” which demonstrates the way traditional Jewish foods are tailored to the modern American palette.

Another Special Cookbook Award went to Rose Levy Beranbaum’s “The Cake Bible,” a collection of fail-proof cake recipes.

For his column in the New York Times called “The Pour,” Eric Asimov (who happens to be the nephew of novelist Isaac Asimov) was awarded Best Beverage-Focused Column.

Mark Weinberg, a food photographer whose work has appeared on Food52 and in Everyday with Rachael Ray, won Best Editorial/Personal Food Photograph for an image of strudel.
