How To Help Houston With Food Relief

A notice on the Houston Food Bank’s website says the organization is closed due to flooding, but will reopen as soon as possible to help provide disaster relief to the community. It will surely have its work cut out for it, as will the other food-relief organizations and disaster-relief agencies offering assistance to those affected by Harvey in the weeks and months to come. So while these agencies’ doors may temporarily be closed, their coffers are open and likely in need of replenishing.
If you’re wondering how to help, you might find a local charity using Charity Navigator, or consider donating money (generally more helpful than donating food itself) to one of the following organizations. (Please note that the Forward doesn’t endorse or promote any one over another.)
