Happy to wake up to clear blue skies Saturday morning, and with the long Martin Luther King Day weekend before me, I decided to take Leo the Labradoodle on a proper walk around my Central Harlem neighborhood (as opposed to the corner-and-back approach we took in the rain on Friday).

Ivanka Trump’s husband may have spent the morning appearing in Congress to answer questions, but it was just another perfectly blissful day in the Kushner house.
This whole trip is basically a food lover’s paradise, but this morning’s adventure was a highlight. We began the day with a tour of Levinsky Market, a glorious strip of food stalls, guided by Gil Hovav, the wildly knowledgeable and entertaining Israeli food writer and TV host, who is a friend of the bride. (He was stopped along the way by several locals who approached asking to take selfies with him.)
Yesterday I arrived in Tel Aviv for a long-anticipated vacation that’s centered around a dear friend’s wedding. This morning, I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the day than to belly up to the bar of an open-air eatery in the Carmel Market called Shuk Shuka.
