As Empathy Fades
Due to an editing error, the April 29 article “As Empathy Fades,” by Joshua Halberstam, contained an inaccuracy. The root of the word charity is “caritas,” as the author had it, not “christos.”
In a May 13 arts piece, the name of the lead singer of the band Neutral Milk Hotel was misspelled. It is Jeff Mangum, not Magnum.
An April 29 profile of Rabbi Josh Simon, rabbi of the Actors Temple in New York, misidentified his genealogy. Rabbi Israel Goldfarb is his maternal, not paternal, grandfather.

Now more than ever, American Jews need independent news they can trust, with reporting driven by truth, not ideology. We serve you, not any ideological agenda.
At a time when other newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall and invested additional resources to report on the ground from Israel and around the U.S. on the impact of the war, rising antisemitism and the protests on college campuses.
