Today is the 100th annual International Women’s Day, commemorating the achievements of women, past and present. This year’s theme: “Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women.”

In Israel, the employment rate stands at 65% for Jewish women, but at just 19% for Arab women. Haneen Zoabi, a member of the Knesset Committee on the Status of Women, sees the statistic as emblematic of government-perpetuated inequities between Arab and Jewish women living in Israel.
