Net-A-Porter Has A ‘Modest’ Fashion Section?

Further proving that modest fashion isn’t some trend that will slowly shrivel up and die as it cycles out of the unrelenting fashion wheel of change, Net-a-porter has unveiled an entire section of its site devoted to modesty fashion.

Like all e-tailers, the luxury fashion site has a tab marked “clothing” with classically merchandised categories, like “dresses” and “tops.” There are even subsections, like “gowns” and “party dresses” that are given their own category which we assume is due to the frequency that customers search for and buy those items.

But there, sandwiched between “lingerie” and “pants,” is a category marked “modest.” When clicked on, the category is filled with a curated list of modest options, from a $6,500 well-below-the-knee sequined Gucci skirt to a $7,025 high-neck, elbow-length frothy emerald lace gown from Elie Saab. The prices, while extravagant, reflects the growing economic power wielded by the modest consumer; a consumer who increasingly seems to have money to spare, from religious Muslims to Mormons to Orthodox Jews.

All signs point to the obvious: Modest fashion isn’t going away anytime soon.
