Rabbis 2014

Rabbi Michael Adam Latz

I am a Christian pastor who worked in a leadership position during the Minnesota campaign for marriage equality in 2012–2013. I helped organize the multi-faith service held the night before the Minnesota House voted on the marriage equality bill. With over 800 people in attendance, Rabbi Latz brought a group of folks to the service and led the entire gathered body in a telling of the importance of the chuppah and how his role as a rabbi required him to be with us that night. His explication of Jewish tradition brought many of us to tears and combined with his interviews, public presence, sermons and embodiment of the Jewish call for the doing of justice, loving of mercy and walking humbly with G-d. He is truly a rabbi in the deepest sense of that word; he has taught us all in powerful ways.
