Established in 1895, the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston serves the Boston Jewish community of over 200,000. In 2013, it merged with the Jewish Federation of the North Shore. In addition to supporting a wide scope of services and programs to Boston-area residents, the Federation also provides social programs to Haifa, with which it has held a sister-city relationship for over 20 years.

Since 1987, Barry Shrage has served as president of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston. He spearheaded the CJP Strategic Plan for the Boston Jewish community, which established partnerships with synagogues and the Federation’s longtime agency partners, as well as a Boston-based adult Jewish education program. Shrage graduated from the City College of New York and received a master’s in social work from Boston University. The 2016 figure skips a $1.9 million compensation package he made the previous year.
