Gaza Rocket Strikes Near Israeli School
A rocket fired from Gaza landed in a residential area south of Ashkelon.
The rocket was fired late Sunday night. No one was reported injured but light damage was reported.
The Code Red incoming rocket alert was sounded in several areas in southern Israel before the rocket landed in Israeli territory.
The remains of the rocket were discovered early Monday morning. The rocket landed near a school bus stop in the city.
The rocket was fired hours after a bomb exploded on a passenger bus in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv. The passengers had been removed from the bus before the bomb detonated.
Also late Sunday night, Border Police guards prevented a stabbing attack by a Palestinian man at a checkpoint near Jerusalem. No one was hurt and the suspected stabber and two companions were taken in for questioning.
