Robert Kraft Praises Donald Trump — Stops Short of Endorsement

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft praised GOP frontrunner Donald Trump as a friend, but stopped short of an endorsement.

In an interview with the Boston Globe on the eve of the Massachusetts primary on Super Tuesday, Kraft broke his silence on the man he called his “very good friend for close to two decades.”

“While I am not comfortable discussing politics publicly, I am very comfortable talking about my friendships with people who happen to be in politics,” Kraft wrote in a statement.

Kraft told the Boston Globe that he and Trump “have had a lot of fun together socially, including a very memorable evening in 2005 when I had the privilege of being at his and Melania’s wedding.” The quarterback of the New England Patriots, Tom Brady, is also a friend of Trump.

Kraft is known as a major force in the Jewish philanthropic world, having given heavily to both Jewish and Israeli causes. Some of the beneficiaries of his largesse include the Kraft Center for Jewish Life at Columbia University, Brandeis University, and the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces.

He ordered a moment of silence at a Patriots game after the murder of Ezra Schwartz, a suburban Boston student, in a terror attack on the West Bank.
